So hearing of her imminent move from Goulburn to North Queensland, Mr Guy could think of nothing more fitting than a performance in her honour.
Before an appreciative 100-strong audience of her family and friends at Goulburn’s Uniting Church last Wednesday, he moved delicately through a parade of renowned composers.
“She took me on,” 28-year-old Mr Guy later reflected of Mrs Frazer’s early influence as a piano teacher.
He was just nine at the time and stayed under Mrs Frazer’s charge for five years until learning with Sr Mercedes at St Joseph’s Convent.
These days Mrs Frazer has no hesitation in describing Mr Guy as the “best in Australia,” but is quick not to take the credit.
