Mr Weatherstone receives an Australia Medal for service to conservation and the environment through research, implementing and promoting ecologically sustainable farming practices, and sharing knowledge with the community to improve land care.
As the owner of 'Lyndfield Park' since 1977, Mr Weatherstone has worked on the property as a farmer since 1959 and has harvested the seeds of native Australian plants for sale to primary producers and conservation groups, since 1984.
Until the early 1980s the property was used primarily for grazing but following the severe drought of 1982-1983, it was converted to an ecologically sustainable farm.
