'Harsh' charge, injuries won't deter Giants: Daniels

Bedford was hit with a "harsh" three-match suspension for last week's tackle which concussed Richmond's Tim Taranto, but had it overturned in a sensational Appeal Board hearing on Thursday night.

The initial rough conduct charge, plus a similar one handed to Brisbane Lions star Charlie Cameron, which was also overturned on appeal, caused ructions among the wider AFL playing group.

But Daniels insists the Giants are not letting the confusion surrounding the Tribunal's stance on tackling distract them ahead of the home clash with Gold Coast on Saturday.

"You just got to play the game and unfortunately accidents do happen," Daniels said.

"If someone does end up getting concussed from a tackle, it's a little bit unlucky (but) I don't think we, as players, can change the way we play."

Instead, the Giants are focused on just one goal - winning.

But it will have to be without veteran Stephen Coniglio, who is sidelined with shoulder soreness after just one game back from a dislocation of the same joint.

"It's a week-by-week thing ... his shoulder is a little bit sore still," Daniels said.

"Hopefully we'll get him back in the next couple of weeks ... he's massively important for us.

"He's so supportive off the field as well, so even though he's not out there, he does have a big impact on the group."

Daniels said the Giants' collective versatility is a positive attribute as they seek to cover the likes of Coniglio and star defender Sam Taylor, who remains sidelined after rupturing a testicle.

"It would be great to have full-strength out there but I don't think it's a massive thing for us ... we can get the job done," Daniels said.

Gold Coast are desperate to break through for the first win on the road after eight losses in as many away games this season, heightened by an embarrassing defeat to lowly North Melbourne on their most recent interstate trip.
