This has long been a quote used by many when referencing the weather expectations of the days ahead.
However, after the stunning morning displays in the sky in recent weeks perhaps the validity of the phrase could be questioned.

Sure there have been many icy cold, and even a few rainy, days and there have been frequent strong winds. But it has not been all doom and gloom during the colder winter months.
While the sun rising has put on a regular showcase, the sunsets have been equally stunning on many nights.
So if you are feeling the doom and gloom of short days, long nights and cold winter weather perhaps you need only look to the horizon for an uplifting experience during winter.
