A Goulburn man will face court after being charged with firearms, drugs and weapon offences in the Southern Highlands.

About 5pm Thursday December 29 officers from the Mittagong Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle along the Illawarra Highway, Robertson, for the purpose of a random alcohol/drug test.
After returning a negative breath test, the driver, a 35-year-old man, was subjected to a drug test, which allegedly returned a positive result.

Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located prohibited drugs, nunchakus, batons, a large amount of pistol ammunition and a 3D printed single shot pistol with a live .22 calibre round.
The items were seized and will undergo further examination.
Inquiries established that the man was the holder of a valid firearms Category A or B licence which did not entitle him to be in possession of pistol ammunition or the pistol.
The man was arrested and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station where he underwent an oral fluid sample.
He was charged with 11 offences including;
- possess prohibited drug (x2)
- possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (x3)
- holder of category A or B licence not have approved storage
- possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority
- possess unregistered unauthorised pistol in public place
- possess loaded firearm public place
- possess unauthorised pistol
- not keep firearm safely-pistol
The Goulburn man was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Friday 30 December 2022).
His Category A or B licence was suspended by police.
Analysis of the oral fluid sample will be undertaken before any further action is taken.
