How November was one of the biggest months for rain

The Bureau of Meteorology's drought statement for the month of November outlined rainfall was the highest 10 per cent of all years since 1900 for much of the northern tropics and large parts of the southern mainland.

This serious wet weather has been felt across many towns and regions from extreme flooding.

While for many there was too much rain for the month, some parts of Australia still had serious rainfall deficiencies, however it was in the lowest 10 per cent since 1900.

For the period starting December 2021, western Tasmania and parts of south-west Western Australia were the key areas, however the dry conditions eased slightly in November.

Parts of central Queensland, central Tasmania and south-east NSW continued to have low storage conditions.

At this stage the Bureau of Meteorology outlined there was still significant flooding across inland NSW and along the Murray River.

There have been high stream flows observed in many parts of southern Australian, inland NSW and some parts of north-west Western Australia.

Meanwhile low stream flows were observed mostly in south-west Western Australia and north-eastern Australia.

At the end of November, Australia's total storage volume was 76.2 per cent of full capacity.
