In London, West Ham needed extra time to beat serial competition winners Sevilla 2-0 to progress 2-1 on aggregate on Thursday.
Tomas Soucek opened the scoring for David Moyes' men in the 39th minute to level the tie before substitute Andriy Yarmolenko fired West Ham into a 2-1 lead in the 112th minute.
The Ukrainian was also the Hammers' hero and crowd favourite when he netted the winner in their 2-1 Premier League victory over Aston Villa.
Barca continued their stirring revival under new coach and old club hero Xavi Hernandez, following a goalless home leg in Catalonia.
Defender Marcao headed the opener for Galatasaray but Pedri levelled before half-time with a lovely solo goal.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who's proving an inspired signing from Arsenal, then bagged the winner five minutes after the restart after keeper Inaki Pena, who is actually on loan from Barcelona, made saves from Sergio Busquets and Pedri.
"We played a match of huge personality," said Barcelona coach Xavi. "It was a great performance to fight back in a ground like this against a very good team.
"They knew how to defend against us but we were patient. I'm very happy for my players."
Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen failed to break down an organised Atalanta side as they crashed out of the competition with a 1-0 home defeat.
Teenage star Florian Wirtz was missing, having torn his cruciate ligaments at the weekend, and without his inspiration from midfield Leverkusen rarely looked like overcoming their 3-2 first-leg deficit.
And a fine counter-attacking goal from Jermie Boga deep into injury-time then capped Atalanta's display by earning them victory on the night.
The Italians will be joined in Friday's quarter-final draw by Rangers, who also progressed to the last-eight despite losing 2-1 to Red Star in Belgrade.
Their 3-0 win in Glasgow was enough to see them through while Braga's 1-1 draw at Monaco gave them a 3-1 aggregate triumph.
Lyon drew 1-1 with Porto to emerge 2-1 in the tie while Eintracht Frankfurt and Real Betis needed extra time to be separated before drawing 1-1, with the German side advancing 3-2 on aggregate.
