Goulburn Street and Classic Car Club hosts fundraiser for Taralga's Beau Cosgrove

The 11-year-old who lives with Morquio Syndrome, a rare inherited birth defect, goes to Westmead Children's Hospital every week for an infusion of the drug Vimizim.

He uses a CPAP machine, but as it isn't as effective as it was before, his mother Sam Cosgrove says he is now looking to switch to a BiPAP machine.

"He has the CPAP machine at the moment because he tends to stop breathing lots of time during the night," Ms Cosgrove said.

"Now we're going to try the BiPAP machine because that pushes the air in on the inhale and then stops so he can exhale.

"It will cost over $7000."

On Australia Day, Wednesday, January 26, the Goulburn Street and Classic Car Club will be hosting a fundraiser at Gray Park from 7am to help raise funds for the BiPAP machine.

Entry at the car show is $10 per car. There will be the Big Panda jumping castle, triple treat face painting, temporary tattoos and fresh popcorn. They all cost $2.

There will also be a raffle.

Ms Cosgrove said she was always thankful for the love shown by the community.

"The town of Taralga and surrounds has always been a big support to us," she said.

"The Taralga Fishing Club bought us Beau's manual wheelchair, while Bradfordville Public School has been very helpful to us too."

Other activities in Taralga on the day include breakfast at the Taralga Sports Club from 7am and market stalls.
