Goulburn Wetlands hosts birds and plants guided walk and talk

World Wetlands Day was on Wednesday, February 2 and to celebrate, Goulburn Field Naturalists and FROGS Landcare hosted a guided walk and talk about birds and plants at the wetlands.

Heather West from FROGS Landcare said everyone found the day quite interesting.

"Frank Antrim hosted the bird observation walks and they were well attended," Ms West said.

"Some people also stayed on to hear the changes in the Wetland's site over the last 200 years or so.

"They were impressed with the successful revegetation in recent years."

Goulburn's Australian Conservation Foundation community group leader Elizabeth Grice explained the importance of World Wetlands Day.

"With the climate changing, we need to restore our wetlands because it contains a wide range of birds, plants and insects," Ms Grice said.

"It's good to draw people's attention to the fact that we have a wetlands here.

The Australian Plants Society also attracted particular interest with sale of native plants suitable for home gardens in Goulburn's climate.
