It will mean that there will be two Bong Bong Picnic Races in 2022.
Bong Bong Picnic Race Club chairman Simon Parks said that due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation and the existing Southern Highlands lockdown, the board regretfully decided to postpone this year's Picnic Race day which was scheduled for Friday November 19.
"We are currently seeking new date to race in early 2022 from Racing NSW and hope to be able to confirm this by the end of October," he said.
"The board is committed to trying to find a way to hold the race day on an alternative date in early 2022 and we thank members for their ongoing support."
Committee member Suzannah Cowley said the committee was regretful to postpone the date.
"We used the word postpone because we want to follow it up in 2022 and keep the dream alive," she said.
"We hope in the next couple of weeks to hear from Racing NSW.
"The board is so committed to ensure we can go ahead as soon as possible. It's such an important event for the community.
"We've had incredible support from local businesses and organisations. Things were looking so good before the delta outbreak. It was a hard decision but it's better to be conservative than put the community at risk."
