Most club cricket traditionally begins in mid-October, but the statement penned by Cricket NSW CEO, Lee Germon, said the start dates will depend on public health orders from the state government.

"As we get closer to the 2021-22 season start, we are aware that COVID-19 continues to create some doubt and uncertainty," Germon said.
"The actual timing of the start of the season remains conditional on relevant Public Health Orders, and this varies across our State. We are working with everyone to be ready. Early indications are that registration numbers are very strong as we all look forward to a 'great summer of cricket'."
The current statewide lockdown in NSW was extended late last week, and is now scheduled to end on August 28.
Cricket NSW has also thrown its support behind the nationwide effort to get Australians vaccinated against COVID-19. To this end, it has launched a player and staff initiative to provide a $100 donation to fight skin cancer for each person who receives the vaccination.
"Cricket NSW is strongly encouraging vaccinations so we can all get back on the field faster," Germon said.
"To date, close to 70% of staff members, Board Directors and players have had one dose and almost 50% are fully vaccinated. We are on track to have all our Sheffield Shield and WBBL players fully vaccinated for the start of the season."
The funds raised through this effort will go towards providing free skin checks for cricketers across NSW and their families.
Cricket NSW has promised to provide updates to the cricketing community as soon as they become available.
The Goulburn District Senior Cricket Association was scheduled to have its AGM last Tuesday, August 17, but it was postponed due to the statewide lockdown. It will be rescheduled at a later date, yet to be specified by the GDCA.
