A severe weather warning for damaging winds and a marine wind warning has been issued for large parts of NSW.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe warning for damaging winds for the Hunter, Illawarra and parts of Mid North Coast, Metropolitan, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Lower Western, Snowy Mountains, ACT and Northern Tablelands.
Damaging winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with gusts in excess of 90 km/h, are possible Friday afternoon (July 16) and into Saturday (July 17) in the Alpine, Southern Tablelands, Illawarra, Blue Mountains and elevated parts of the South Coast, ACT and parts of the South West Slopes.
The threat of damaging winds in the eastern area is likely to continue into Saturday, before easing early on Sunday.

Temperatures in the Southern Highlands are expected to reach a maximum of seven degrees Celsius on Saturday July 17 and 10 degrees Celsius on Sunday July 18. A minimum of five degrees Celsius is to be expected but may be lower in some parts of the region.
The Southern Tablelands will reach highs of seven degrees Celsius and lows of three degrees Celsius on Saturday July 17. The weather on Sunday will only be two degrees warmers, with highs of nine degrees Celsius expected during the day and lows of three degrees Celsius.
The cold overcast weather is expected to last over the next seven days.
Gale warning are in place for Byron Coast, Coffs Coast, Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney Coast, Illawarra Coast and Eden Coast on Saturday, with strong wind warning for Sydney enclosed waters and the Batemans Coast.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least eight metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires.
