Moss Vale drug bust leads to 70 charges

In April 2021, officers attached to The Hume Police District established Strike Force Luccarda to investigate the distribution of methylamphetamine in the Southern Highlands.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives - with assistance from the Public Order Riot Squad - executed a search warrant at a home in Moss Vale, about 6.45am yesterday, Thursday, July 8.

During the search, police seized methylamphetamine, cannabis, cash, electronic scales, a mobile phone and an extendable baton.

Shortly after, a second search warrant was executed at another home in Moss Vale, where police seized cannabis, a mobile phone and other electronic devices.

Two men - aged 36 and 55 - were arrested during the operation and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station.

The 55-year-old man charged with 10 counts of supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.

Both men were refused bail and appeared in Picton Local Court yesterday, where they were formally refused bail to appear in Moss Vale Local Court on Wednesday, September 8.

Investigations under Strike Force Luccarda are continuing and further arrests are expected.
