Business picks up for Trappers Bakery after COVID-19 alert

Owner Keith 'Trapper' Woodman said business had been quieter than normal on Saturday and Sunday but picked up on the Monday of the long weekend.

"Since the scare business has been down quite considerably," he said.

The bakery closed for two days after the alert was issued on June 1 to conduct a deep clean.

"There was certainly financial loss but it was also draining for my family who were sent into isolation," Trapper said.

Fourteen staff and family members went into seven days isolation after NSW Health issued the alert.

Trapper said this family were tested for COVID-19 twice, with daily calls from NSW Health to see how they were coping.

Almost 50 per cent of staff from the bakery were required to go into isolation.

Trapper said he "could understand why people were shy" to come back to the bakery but a two-day complete de-cleansing had been conducted.

Any items that could have been touched were thrown out, this included salt and pepper, condiments, napkins etc.

He told The Post he hoped business would pick up now the snow season had started.

"When the bakery goes well it's hard to keep people out," Trapper said.

"Most people have been very considerate."

Despite everything Trapper still looks on the bright side.

"We have not only put the bakery on the map, we've also put a lil' town called Goulburn."
