A total of 127,000 tulips will be featured in the floral spectacle from September with the addition of 15,000 annual plants.
Tulip Time's charity partner CanAssist who provides financial support to cancer patients and their families, is also celebrating their 60th anniversary milestone.
CanAssist president Jenny Harper said the grassroots organisation had their "fingers crossed" to be selected.
"We are very excited to raise funds," she said.
"Rural and regional communities should have equal access to cancer services and that is something that hasn't always been the case."

Actor and musician John Waters was announced as the ambassador for the 60th anniversary of Tulip Time yesterday afternoon.
He will perform a series of John Lennon songs along with three other musicians in Corbett Gardens with all funds raised going to CanAssist.
"I don't know much about planting tulips, but I know how to bring music to people," he said.
"I am thrilled to help. CanAssist is a service any community would struggle without."
Mr Waters was one of the headlining acts and organisers of last year's FireAid bushfire concert which raised over $340,000 for the Southern Highlands.
Tulip Time Officer Lorna Bussell said there are "lots of plans to make the festival sparkle."
Diamond shapes have already been drawn and fashioned into garden beds.
Ms Bussell and head gardener Rod McTernen said there are many surprises awaiting attendees.
The festival will commence on Friday, September 17 and finish on Monday, October 4.
Due to restrictions, the days are divided into morning and afternoon sessions for people to admire the floral displays.
