Resparkle, Cove: Ways to reduce plastic waste

In a world where throw-away plastics are all too common these two brands are offering their consumers the chance to stop the trend when it comes to home cleaning products.

Resparkle products are toxin free and is made in Melbourne. The product is formulated using natural ingredients rated by the Environmental Working Group are non-toxic for marine life, the planet and human health.

The reusable bottles are glass and silicone that only need to be purchased once but can be refilled indefinitely.

Resparkle refills come in powder form and are contained in individual compostable sachets made from plant materials.

"Resparkle was founded on the belief that even small, everyday choices can make a big impact on the health of our planet," Resparkle founder Pearl Chan said.

"I wanted to give people a viable alternative to traditional home cleaning products, so they could choose to minimise waste and toxins in their home without sacrificing cleaning power. The fact that the products actually look stylish on your countertop and smell gorgeous are added bonuses."

Cove has been developed by the Australian company Natures Organics. Cove has no synthetic fragrances and it's vegan.

The reusable bottles are aluminium while the refill pouches are made with 80 per cent less plastic than a standard bottle.

Cove has partnered with REDcycle to ensure the refill pouches are recyclable through the return-to-store program, where they are actually recycled and turned into lovely fun things like park benches and playground equipment.

Both products work by simply mixing the refill with water in the stylish bottles they offer.

This cuts out the amount of plastic waste by reusing the same bottle rather than buying a new one each time.

It also has the added benefit of reducing emissions during freight as the package size is so much smaller than traditional cleaning products.
