A man has landed in court for charges relating to the alleged possession of child pornography.

Edward Robert Gundry, 38, of Tarago, appeared before Goulburn District Court on April 30.
Gundry faced one charge of possess child abuse material and seven charges of using a carriage service to access child pornography.

Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions Gibson said Gundry allegedly had possession of 27,000 images across eight devices. She told the court that upon his arrest Gundry was also in possession of a children's swimming costume.
While presenting evidence to the court, Gundry said he was "immensely bullied at school" and had mental health issues.
He said the child pornography was a "coping mechanism to make [himself] feel better" and escape his mental health problems.
"It's very shameful that I contributed to the production and distribution of child pornography," he said.
"I'll do everything in my power not to do that again."
Gundry told the court "99 per cent" of the material was downloaded from a USA-based website. When the prosecution asked if he had paid almost $3000 in total for the images, he said: "Yes".
Gundry will appear at Sydney Downing Centre District Court on April 9.
