The STFA Under 12 Girls had their first hit out for the season and although they lacked match play they showed a lot of skill.
The girls played top ACT side Gunghalin United in their first game during a heavy downpour of rain, but this did not stop both teams playing a skilful game of soccer with both teams playing end-to-end soccer with the scores locked at nil-all at the half time break.
The second half saw a repeat of the first half, but midway through Gunghalin pounced on a loose ball to score and lead by one.
Three minutes later, Peityn Roxburgh made a strong run down the right side of the field and, with a cracking shot, put the ball into the net to even the score.
Just when the STFA side looked likely to get a well-earned draw, Gunghalin forced a ball through their defence to score the winner.
The girls' second game of the day saw them play Wagga Wagga. This game was played on what was now a very wet and heavy field which made playing skilful soccer difficult.
The girls tried their best, but in the end lost two nil.
Overall, the soccer played by the Southern Tablelands team was of a high standard and can only improve with more training and games.
