A clash of the titans took place at the John Lees Table Tennis Centre last week, when current club champion, Richie Jiang, took on four-time former champion Chintan Trivedi.

The match was played during the fixture between the Panthers and the Eagles, which the former won 7-4, in round four of the local A Grade Table Tennis competition.
In a high-standard match, Trivedi dominated and came out on top in straight sets.
The Eighty Eight's also defeated the Eels 7-4, with the highlight match of the night seeing Lachlan Bill overcome Robert McIntosh in five sets.
The final match saw the Rabbitohs snatch an unexpected victory over the Bulldogs 6-5. Bagas Ariza played a mistake-free match to impressively defeat James Turner in four sets when the rubbers were locked at five-all.
Turner had earlier in the evening beaten his brother Michael in a nail biting five-set encounter. A further mammoth tussle saw Harry Mavrolefterou defeat Nicola Fraser by a similar margin.

Action in the B Grade Table Tennis this week saw the Jet Setters defeat the Dockers 6-5, with Tammy McPherson playing well to take out three wins, one of which included an impressive five-set victory over former B Grade Singles Champion Sam Plumb.
The Demons also won 6-5 against the Dragons, as Dave Manning overcame Phil Fraser 11-8 in the fifth set. The Pies outplayed Sharks 9-2, within which two five-setters saw Elisa Chung take out Wayne King and Qiana Betts defeat Bill Smith.
Smith had earlier defeated Leo Li, also in five sets. The final B Grade match went to the Doggies 6-5 over the Storm with Harry Mavrolefterou scoring five set wins over Nicola Fraser and Peter Trama.
Other five set matches were taken out by Kev Fitzgerald and Dave Howlett over Dave Plumb and Nicola Fraser over Kev Fitzgerald.

Competition players are reminded that practice sessions are held every Thursday night at the John Lees Centre starting at 7pm. Beginners and non-competition players are catered for on Friday nights at the same time at the centre which is located on Sports Way off Finlay Road.
