On Saturday the weekend started with three members taking on the gruelling Alpine Ascent trail run.
This 25km ultra run starts at the Charlotte's Pass Ski Resort and after a quick descent to the Snowy River then climbs over 400 vertical metres over the next 12km to the very peak of Mt Kosciusko before the much more pleasant 13km of downhill to the finish line.
The first of the Goulburn athletes to finish was Jess Kennedy, whose time of two hours 44 minutes was good enough to secure her fourth female outright and first in the 30-39yr age group.
Matthieu Paturel was sixth in his age group with two hours 52 minutes, with his father Pierre not far behind, his time of two hours 59 minutes saw him come in 61st outright out of a field of over 350.
Sunday, March 8, saw five members take on the Broulee Bay to Breakers ocean swim. This year the 1.4km swim was staged on the North Broulee beach and the shallow beach entry saw an explosive start to the event.
An epic beach sprint entry, unseen since the days of Trevor Hendy, saw Andy Oberg open up a sizeable lead in the first 200 metres however the energy expended saw his lead chipped away and by the middle of the race he was settled midfield.
In the end Jason Pattison was the best placed Goulburn athlete with his time an impressive 23 minutes 48 seconds. Famed non- swimmer Jaemin Frazer was next best in 28:05, with veterans Neil and Geordie Kennedy not far behind in the mid 28's.
After a stellar start Andy Oberg still managed a pleasing time of 29:04, his first swim in over three months.
Also on Sunday, a team of five Goulburn Tri members took on the Sri Chinmoy Multi-sport Classic in Jindabyne.
This event starts on the far north west of Lake Jindabyne and progresses in a clockwise fashion by way of three legs each of swimming, kayakng, running or mountain biking with differing difficulties, terrain and distance making each stage unique.
The event goes through Jindabyne Village, and even scales part of the Snowy Mountains to an elevation of 1600m above sea level before returning to the town centre.
The team of Andy Dawes (2.5km swim and 9km paddle), Rod Smith (9km paddle and 12km mountain run), Olivia Stutchbury (6km trail run, 8.5km ride and 1.2km Swim), Kurt Warn (8km MTB, 5.5km paddle and 5km run) and Mark Stutchbury (1.5km swim and 42km Mountain ride) had a up and down sort of day coming from 25th after the first swim stage to being in fourth at the half way mark.
Rod's long mountain run 12km with 400m elevation and Mark's long MTB ride with over 1000m of climbing brought the team back to earth and the team ended up settling for 19th outright and sixth in the 5-12 member teams event.
Some pleasing results over the day came from Kurt Warn who was fastest in the first ride and sixth fastest for the final 5km run. Olivia Stutchbury was third fastest female in the first run, and fourth fastest female in the second MTB leg and sixth fastest in the 1.2km final swim.
Meanwhile racing continued on Tuesday night with round 17 of the Aquathon series. Despite very limited fields, a number of impressive results were put up with Ryan Croker, Kurt Warn and Alexander Skeffington recording season best times.
Run splits were even more impressive with Isaac Hogan , Kurt Warn , Tom and Alexander Skeffington all recording run splits under four minutes per kilometre.
