'If you have a dream follow it': Female leaders celebrate International Women's Day

Ladies from the Hume Police District, Mission Australia, Ray White Goulburn, F45, and Wendy Tuckerman MP met in Belmore Park for a chat and a walk to raise awareness.

Constable Stacey Peters led the initiative which encouraged women to speak up and take action.

Constable Peters said she was part of the "younger generation pushing for more women in a traditionally male dominated industry".

"I would like to see more women in leadership roles within the police force."

For the police officer it is vital for women to be provided with equal opportunities.

Constable Stacey offered advice to women considering a career with the NSW Police Force or in another male dominated industry.

"If you have a dream follow it," she said.

"Persist and reach out to other females for support.

"Don't second guess yourself just because you are a female."

Ms Tuckerman addressed the group. She said it was "really important as women to support each other as we grow as leaders".

"It's important to have this space to think about who your mentors are and who inspires you."

For International Women's Day 2021 community members have been encouraged to 'Choose to Challenge' and strike a pose. Take a selfie and raise your hand high to show you're in and that you commit to choose to challenge and call out inequality.
