The event is run in partnership by Sport NSW, Variety, and Disability Sports Australia, and is designed to provide sporting pathways for students between five and 18 years of age with a physical, intellectual, or sensory disability.
The program, which was described as "groundbreaking" in a statement from Sport NSW, offers sporting opportunities to children who might not otherwise participate.
"[The program] offers children who are often segregated from mainstream school physical education due to a lack of modification knowledge and adaptive equipment, the opportunity to experience a variety of sport activities in a fun and inclusive environment," Sports NSW said.
A wide variety of sports will be showcased for the children who attend, including Aussie Rules, cricket, soccer, tennis, rugby league, athletics, dance, and yoga.
These, Sport NSW said, will give the children opportunities to pursue physical activities they enjoy.
"In order to promote future participation in physical activity, the program allows for students to identify sports and activities they enjoy and be provided with support and contacts for future participation and pathways."
The Active Inclusion Sports Day will take place on Wednesday, March 24, from 10am to 1pm at the Queanbeyan Indoor Sports Centre. The centre is located on 1 Yass Road, Queanbeyan.
The event will get underway with a welcome address at 10am, with sports to begin in rotation from 10.15am.
