The tournament begins on Thursday, November 25, and runs until Sunday, November 28.
As the primary event on the GRBC calendar, registrations are almost always full. However, said tournament organiser Lesley Thoms, this year they filled out extremely quickly as many bowlers across the state have been starved of competition due to COVID-19.
"It's full with entries, in fact it was filled before Christmas," Thoms said.
"It tends to fill up very quickly anyway, but it's filled up very quickly this year because people were looking for something to do and somewhere to go.
"It's a very popular tournament, and it's filled up even quicker than it normally does."
The tournament will be split into men's and women's triples competitions, which will run for two days each. The men will take place first, on the Thursday and Friday, and the women will follow over the weekend.
The bulk of competitors, as is the case most years, will come from Canberra, Sydney, the south coast, and the central coast. Overall, the GRBC is expecting 168 bowlers across both competitions.
Aside from the chance to take to the greens and test their skills, what draws many of the competitors to large competitions is the opportunity to socialise.
At the GRBC's annual tournament, it is not unusual to see bowlers from different clubs greet one another warmly and share long chats.
This sense of anticipation and excitement is shared by everyone involved, even the GRBC committee, whose members Thoms said are "really looking forward" to the tournament.
The GRBC's Rose Tournament will take place at 271 Sloane Street. Spectators are welcome to come and observe the play, and for more information, please contact Lesley Thoms on 0419 466 683.
The event will be sponsored by the Gullen Range Wind Farm and Goulburn Mulwaree Council.
