Entitled 'Come and Play Netball', the new initiative, which launches today, is designed to help the sport rebound from the impact of COVID-19.
The campaign will works with clubs and associations across the state in conjunction with media and advertising platforms in an effort to draw players back to netball.
There will be an overarching campaign run by Netball NSW with state-wide radio and outdoor advertising, which will feature faces from the state's two professional teams, the NSW Swifts and the Giants.
Paige Hadley (Swifts), Kiera Austin, and Kristiana Manu'a (both Giants) will appear in the campaign, which also has resources devoted specifically for use by local associations.
Each individual netball association in NSW will receive a range of promotional material to ensure the message is sent at every level across the state.
"When you look at what the last 12 months have thrown at our netball community it's very important that we put significant investment into helping the game bounce back," Netball NSW Executive General Manager of Community and Pathways, Darren Simpson, said.
"Netball across NSW had around a 15% drop in playing numbers in 2020 which compared to other sports was actually not a huge fall-off. However, when you note how much netball grew before COVID-19 we really want to get back on that path as quickly as possible.
"Netball's grassroots numbers are among the biggest in the state but we should never rest on our laurels and we hope this campaign will help kick-start growth again in 2021."
The Goulburn and District Netball Association has already begun its preparations for the 2021 season, as registrations opened on January 11.
The 2021 local season will get underway with the seniors on Monday, March 15, and juniors on Saturday, March 20. For more information, please visit the GDNA's Facebook page or website at www.goulburnna.nsw.netball.com.au.
