In most parts of Queensland you can expect a slight reprieve from scorching temperatures once the sun goes down, but not in Birdsville.

Residents in Queensland's south west slept through a 33.2 degree Celsius night on Saturday November 28, breaking the record of the highest minimum temperature of 32.1 degrees set on November 14, 2014.
Birdsville Hotel general manager Ben Fullagar said while Birdsville was having hot weather, it was "nothing out of the ordinary".
"It's warm there is no doubt about that, but each year we have the main stream media, like 7News, 9News and Sky News all go crazy over the heat in Birdsville; but it is very much normal for us this time of year," Mr Fullagar said.
"It is business as usual in town, we have landscapers in town, concreters in town; you go around the town and it's like nothing has changed.
"The people who live down here are very resilient and we are acclimatised to the dry conditions and it's something we are used to. However if we went to Brisbane in 35 degree humidity, we would struggle."

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Rosa Hoff said Birdsville temperatures were exceeding above average for November.
"The average maximum temperature in Birdsville in November is 36.6, so we're getting temperatures more than 10 degrees above average and at times 11 degrees above average," Ms Hoff said.
"We have seen this type of heat before. Birdsville does hold the record for the whole of Australia for the highest temperature recorded in November, which is 48 degrees."
Mr Fullagar said the local pub provided locals with a nice reprieve, but equipment was tested by the heat.
"We are very lucky here at the pub because we can hold about 24 degrees in the building, because of the stone walls are around one foot thick," he said.
"Our biggest challenge is making sure that our cool rooms stay operational, as it is a big ask on equipment in this weather. While we might be comfortable the equipment surely isn't.
"No matter how good the manufacture says they are rated to, Birdsville is like no other. If something is going to be tested, it will be tested here."
