The Crescent School receive help for their secure sensory walkways project

The school received $24,687 and will use the money to complete its secure sensory walkways project.

Carli Shirley from the school said they would provide an accessible and safe new playground area for students.

"We want to create an all inclusive and secure environment within our bottom playground so that all students can access it," Ms Shirley said.

"Stage one of the project, which is complete, was to have the footpath built.

"Now we're up to stage two of our project which involves installing security fencing between ourselves and Wollondilly Public School.

"Safety handrails will then go around the footpath and then a sensory walkway will be put in so the students can have activities to do as they go around the park.

"There'll be a different activity every few metres."

The project aims to get students to do physical activities and to focus on their gross motor skills.

Ms Shirley said the project wouldn't have been able to go ahead without the help of VMT.
