Handicap races give all riders a chance to win regardless of their grade with fastest riders having to chase down all the others.
In perfect conditions for racing, riders set off at different intervals from Brisbane Grove Road, rode past the airport and up the steady climb to the turnaround just past Bullamilita Road.
D Grade riders have clearly been doing some secret training with new rider Peter Lucas, Peter Jackson and Wayne Skillman managing to hold of all the chasers. Wayne Skillman bridged the 1 minute 30 second gap to the two Peters off limit.
The three worked together well sharing the workload at the front but is was Lucas and Jackson that opened up a slight advantage over Skillman in the sprint for line honours.
Both Peters crossed the line together and it was only the eagle eye of Commissaire Phil Bush who could separate them, and he awarded the win to Peter Lucas.
A Grade riders needed to make up 12 minutes on the front runners to have any chance of winning.
Cameron Roberts lead the chase with Jason McLaughlin, Robbie Dorsett and Jason Cook in tow. Cameron finish fourth overall only nine seconds behind the winner and managed to complete the course in under half an hour averaging 44.2km/hr.
Next Wednesday 25 November 2020 racing is on Range Road. Sign on is at the corner of Chinamans Lane and Range Road from 6pm with racing at 6.30pm. New riders are welcome.
