A man has been granted bail after police allegedly found firearms during a search of his property in Lower Boro.

Hendrickus William Scholte, 69, of Lower Boro, was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, being armed with the intention of committing an indictable offence, possession of an unauthorised firearm and not keeping a firearm safely.
He appeared before Goulburn Local Court via audio visual link from custody on November 5.
It was presented by Magistrate Geraldine Beattie that on October 31, 2020 Scholte attacked another person in relation to a dispute about a car. The court heard the incident led to police conducting a search warrant at the property on November 4, 2020. Police discovered a 12-gauge shotgun, a 303 rifle and several other firearms. The court heard that Scholte's firearms licence was expired at the time. The police found one of the firearms with ammo in a bedroom wardrobe and seven more in a nearby shed.
Magistrate Beattie said this was a very serious offence.
She said Scholte "told police he was adamant there were no firearms on his property."
The magistrate said evidence included "footage filmed on a mobile phone of Scholte hitting the victim with a wooden handle".
She said during the dispute another person had threatened the victim with a firearm and a shot was fired.
Solicitor Matt Adam defended his client's application for bail, saying Scholte had a "extremely limited criminal history" and "hadn't been before the court for 20 years".
Police prosecutor Kerr said he had concerns about the safety of the community, witnesses and claimants if Scholte was granted bail.
The magistrate granted Scholte bail on the condition he report daily to Tarago Police Station, and did not enter Goulburn unless to attend court or for legal matters.
