And while it will be very different from previous years, Goulburn's 18th Relay for Life will still go ahead in 2020.
This year however, rather than hold a physical event for people to attend, Cancer Council's Community Relations Coordinator, Brooke Manzione said participants were encouraged to do Relay for Life their own way.
Whether it be walking around the neighbourhood, camping in the backyard or dressing up their pets, anything is encouraged to get people involved.
"Whatever they want to do to support Relay. We still wanted to keep the spirit of Relay alive," she said.
"We're so thrilled the community has come together in this way. COVID-19 doesn't stop cancer, it just makes the cancer journey so much tougher for patients and their families. We need to keep raising vital funds for our prevention programs, support services and also continue to fund our work in research and advocacy so we can have a cancer free future."
Cancer Council's Relay For Life will take to the airwaves this weekend (October 31 - November 1) for the first ever Goulburn Radio Relay, with 93.5 Eagle FM and 2GN Goulburn set to broadcast the entire 24-hour event.
Chairperson of the Goulburn Relay committee, Rosemary Chapman, said she was excited about the new format.
"This is a chance for our Relay teams to come together and Relay the way they are comfortable and safe. You can be as creative as you like," she said.
"There have been many creative ideas that have come out already, of people choosing an activity that suits them, and we are really excited to see it all come together."
The business community has also been urged to get on board and join in the Relay, with Radio Goulburn encouraging businesses to pledge their support as an 'Hour of Power' sponsor.
Radio Goulburn station manager Josh Mathews, said it was a great opportunity for businesses to get some exposure while supporting a great cause.
"We are asking local businesses to donate $400 to Goulburn Relay and they will be given an hour of credits on air," he said.
"This is a great chance for the business community of Goulburn to really rally behind Goulburn Relay For Life.
"We are going to have a lot of fun with this. Our team is very passionate about supporting Goulburn Relay and we are looking forward to being part of something fun and different to raise some much-needed funds for Cancer Council NSW."
Harvey Norman Goulburn has put up its hand to partner with Radio Goulburn and pledged to donate a prize pool of $6000 to the business that pledges the highest donation on the day.
The event has 16 teams registered and has raised just over $16,000 with the support of event sponsor Veolia Mulwaree Trust and Hope Ceremony sponsor, First National Real Estate Goulburn.
