The proponent for a 37-lot subdivision in Laggan has withdrawn an application for rezoning to the Upper Lachlan Shire Council.

In August, councillors deferred a decision to rezone land in Laggan which would support a gateway proposal to the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment.
Later, in a workshop, the council resolved to speak with the applicant about adjustments to the number of blocks and lot sizes.
Mayor John Stafford, in a recent mayoral column, stated, the reason given by the applicant for withdrawing was the break-up of the Laggan community.
He said, "the proposal for rezoning in Laggan has been a very contentious issue. Opponents to the proposal were concerned with the number of blocks, the size of blocks, and that their objections might not be heard."
But, he said, "the topic of development in Laggan remains a discussion point... There are benefits to growth just as there are concerns to address, and these will still need to be considered."
General manager Colleen Worthy said the applicant could resubmit to the council if they choose to.
