Lions Club helps out with Goulburn South Public School's Friendship Park

The Lions Club of Goulburn donated $5000 towards the park to show their support.

This is an addition to the $38,709 donated by the Veolia Mulwaree Trust last month.

Goulburn South Public School principal Ann Patchett said the aim of the park was to "provide a stimulating environment for children with additional needs to enable development of foundation skills in an interesting and low stress setting".

"The school has been opening it's playground to the community in the school holidays with the 'Share our Space' initiative that the Department of Education has had for the past two years.

"This initiative allows community members to be able to access the grounds for their children."

Construction of the playground has commenced and will include play equipment such climbing equipment, soft pour snakes and ladders, sound tubes as well as a section of sensory equipment such as bongo drums, free standing chimes and turned drums.

The donation from the Lions Club allowed the school to purchase extra free standing items including telescope, game boards and a basketball stand.

Goulburn South Public School thanked all their sponsors for their generous donations towards their 'Friendship Park'.
