On Tuesday, August 10, the Goulburn Mulwaree Council announced that all council-owned sporting grounds were closed following the downpour.
On Friday, August 14, council announced that most grounds were open again, but that play would be conditional pending any further rain.
"[North Park's] field 1 still has visible water on the canteen end and it is recommended that Junior League assess prior to play if it can be used," a statement on council's Facebook page read.
"Council recommend that league use Field 2 for senior games and older age groups."
Though there was further rain on Friday night, it did not deter the Goulburn Junior Stockmen from proceeding with its scheduled matches.
"Footy is on today," the Stockmen announced on Saturday morning. "Yes it is wet and potentially slippery for the kids however it is a winter sport and with the late start to the season we would like to go ahead with the games today."
Along with North Park, the other grounds which were reopened on Friday include Carr Confoy, Cookbundoon, Hudson Oval, Goodhew Park, and the netball courts.
However, in less than 24 hours, the STFA announced that all weekend soccer was cancelled due to the waterlogged fields at Cookbundoon.
"Due to the rain overnight, all fields are now waterlogged with lots of surface water, making the fields unplayable," the association said.
"The decision has unfortunately been made to cancel games for today. Player safety is our first priority."
Similarly, the Goulburn District Netball Association announced that its matches would take place indoors, at the basketball courts.
The rugby union was not spared either. As Poidevin Oval was ruled out of action prior to the weekend, the Goulburn Dirty Reds women's match against Royals was cancelled.
One of the lucky few not to be impacted was the Goulburn District Hockey Association, whose juniors players managed to get on the pitch on Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, Seiffert Oval, Prell Oval, and Eastgrove South will remain closed for the foreseeable future. The latter, council said, will be closed until at least Monday August 24.
