Lynne O'Brien, the newly-appointed project manager for a proposed community-owned solar farm in Goulburn, has a passion for sustainable and renewable energy.

"I think there is a lot that we can do and we have to do it for our children and grandchildren," she said.
Her priorities in the role comprise engaging with the community, fundraising of $2.1m to match the grant, reporting and coordinating with government agencies and compiling plans.
"I will also be a part of some of the other wonderful initiatives that the community is working on for the sustainable future of Goulburn and surrounding areas," Ms O'Brien said.
Due to COVID-19, the plans for community consultations had to be put on hold.
"COVID-19 may have put us behind a little bit but we will keep moving forward," she added.
She is now looking at engaging the community through a series of online and live events that will be available on their website as well.
"I want to ensure that the community is well-informed so that they can take up the offer of being an owner of community solar farm," she said.
"There are several local residents who are concerned about climate change and this is an important project for Goulburn."
A resident of Lake Bathurst, Ms O'Brien moved from Southern Highlands to the area. She has a work experience of over three decades in large-scale events and community engagements.
Meanwhile, Community Energy for Goulburn (CE4G) president Ed Suttle is "pleased" at her appointment.
Mr Suttle further informed that they have formed and registered a co-operative.
"Goulburn Community Energy Co-operative Ltd will run and manage the solar farm," he said.
The project is planned for a 2.4-hectare site in Bridge Street, off Sydney Road at north Goulburn. A committee, driven by their belief in renewable energy, has been working on the concept for more than five years.
In March, the state government granted $2.1 million towards the 1.8-megawatt farm.
Investors will be able to purchase multiple $400 shares, $400 being the cost of each of the farm's 5000 panels. The price also covers all infrastructure required for grid connection.
