Local artist's work to be showcased in New York gallery

Agora Gallery in Chelsea, New York City had contacted Ms Smith expressing their interest in displaying her work before the COVID-19 hit.

They have now decided to take the exhibition online because of the pandemic and her work will be showcased in a digital format.

"I am currently working on providing my work in digital format to the gallery. If things go well in the future, I may be able to visit the gallery in person and hold a live exhibition of my work," she said.

Her artworks reflects the experiences she has had in her lifetime, including those of recent bushfires.

"I have no pre-conceived ideas and my works are not all in similar veins. The style, subject matter, and the medium is different in all of my works," she said.

"My artworks show what I am feeling at that time and reacting to what's happening.

"Everything good or bad that I have gone through in life somehow end up on the canvas, sculpture, or other creative forms."

Ms Smith's has always had an interest in arts "as it runs through the family".

She was an art teacher at Goulburn High School for 10 years. Post her retirement, she dedicated her time to make a place for herself in the art world.

Earlier this year, she held an exhibition of some of her paintings at the Goulburn Club.

The exhibition called Time Sequence Revelations coincided with the Australian Blues Music Festival.
