The Goulburn Place Plan finished on June 30 after a successful two and a half years.
The final leg focused on Bradfordville and Mary's Mount areas.
Mission Australia area manager Dan Strickland said the aim was to help people improve their outlook on life.
It also aimed to connect these people with the rest of the community.
Mr Strickland said they used the end of the program as an "opportunity to clean out excess rubbish".
Twenty families came forward. This led to the collection of 150 cubic metres of waste cleared from people's properties.
Mr Strickland said it was such a relief for families to have the rubbish cleared.
He said the look on their faces made the program worthwhile.
"It was a really nice way to end the program."
The clean up was about more than just beautifying the neighbourhood.
Mr Strickland said the families were vulnerable and "needed a little bit of support".
"They didn't have the capacity to do the work themselves.
"A key aspect was bringing in other community service organisations."
Mission Australia partnered with the Department of Communities and Justice for the initiative.
