When Shi Lovell and Kristy Meizer started Lovell Meizer Funerals they expected challenges, what they didn't expect was the challenge of finding the families of cremated remains left behind by the previous business owners.

The pair took over the funeral home, originally owned by Bob Rudd Funerals, one year ago on July 3, 2019.
Ms Meizer said they discovered more than 70 containers of ashes left behind when they first moved into the building and undertook "a big clean up".
She said the situation was "heartbreaking".
"When we took over the business there were containers all over the building.
"It's very sad, when you trust people with something so sacred."
After issuing a community call out to relatives and loved ones, Lovell Meizer Funerals has 43 containers left to pass on.
Ms Meizer said she was still "at a bit of a loss" at what to do.
She encouraged the community to get into contact if they'd had a loved one cremated.
"They are still here," Ms Meizer said.
"Please reach out if you feel you may be affected."
The new owner said she did not think Bob Rudd Funerals "necessarily intended to do the wrong thing."
"They ran their business very differently," Ms Meizer said.
The businesswoman said Lovell Meizer Funerals operated with a detailed database that contained the names and contact details of clients.
"We have implemented policies and procedures to maintain a high standard," she said.
Ms Meizer said they often showed clients the empty container, or returned both the urn and the cremated remains container back to the family.
"We don't retain any ashes here that have not fit into the urns or after interment."
When it comes to tracking down family members, the business owners thought issuing a list of names would be insensitive to loved ones.
"We are trying to do our best for the community," Ms Meizer said.
"We have had calls asking about people who are not on our list."
