Update Saturday 4pm
Police continue to search for a man who absconded from the Chisholm Ross Centre on Friday.
Sergeant Mitch Caulfield said the 22-year-old was believed to be still in Goulburn.
The Goulburn man escaped on foot from inside the Clifford Street facility on Friday morning.
Sergeant Caulfield reiterated that police did not believe he was any danger to the community.
The man had been charged with domestic-related offences in early December and at a court appearance on January 26, had been ordered to undergo a mental health assessment at Chisholm Ross.
Update Friday 11pm
The Southern NSW Local Health District will not say how a 22-year-old man managed to escape from the Chisholm Ross Centre earlier today.
A spokesman would only confirm that the man absconded from the Goulburn mental health facility.
"A review of the matter is underway," he said.
"Due to privacy and the matter being part of a police investigation, the Health District cannot make further comment."
It's not the first escape at the facility. In July, 2018, a 26-year-old man, who had also been admitted as an involuntary patient, walked out of the centre.
That night he allegedly assaulted a 42-year-old Goulburn man, fracturing his eye socket after trying to steal his car. Later, he also allegedly threatened a 17-year-old Goulburn man with a knife and demanded his car keys at the Caltex service station in Clinton Street.
The man was arrested at nearby Manfred Park that evening.
The Health District at that time also refused to say how the man absconded but maintained it happened during the admission process.
"Due to privacy issues and as the matter is part of a police investigation, Southern NSW Local Health District cannot make further comments," the spokesman said at the time.
Despite completion of the investigation, the Health District has still not revealed how it occurred.
The Goulburn Post also asked SNSWLHD on Friday if any extra security measures had been implemented since the 2018 escape but did not receive a response.
