Tyson Moon claims Super Sedan win in Goulburn Speedway round three

"It was a good night, there was a good crowd considering all the fires where we lost a few cars because people couldn't get there, which was understandable," Kranitis said.

"All in all it was a great night, the racing was good."

It was a successful night for Kranitis personally, as he watched his son and speedway president, Paul Kranitis, claim third place in the Super Sedans.

The winner of the Super Sedans, which was the main draw of the night, was Bega local Tyson Moon.

Along with the high quality of racing on the night across the five divisions - Super Sedans, F500s, F500s Juniors, Production Sedans, and Micro Sprints - there was also praise for the updated track and newly-installed grandstand.

"I remember seeing one comment on Facebook saying great job [with the grandstand]. We're still sorting it out, but so far so good," Kranitis said.

Saturday night's event was the Speedway's last before Christmas. The track will now be rested and improvements to the track will continue before its next scheduled feature on January 4: the Rocky Hill Royale.

Headlining the upcoming event will be the Production Sedans, which Kranitis expects to be a strong drawcard.

He explained that each event on the Speedway's calendar usually features a primary division, in order to keep some variety in the schedule and give spectators a taste of something different and to maintain interest from the drivers.

"[The Rocky Hill Royale has] been running for a while now and we've made it an annual event for Goulburn, we get competitors from all over the state for it," he said.

"We try to give them a reason to come to Goulburn, like a special event.

"We try to have something major each meeting to attract a good audience, give them something special. It's hard to get something every meeting, but that's what we try to do."

The Rocky Hill Royale will take place on Saturday, January 4, at the Goulburn Speedway. Gates open at 4pm, with racing set to begin from 6pm.

Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for pensioners and children under 14, free for children under school age, and $40 for a family of two adults and two children.
