Goulburn Fire Brigade said two fire trucks were in attendance and one RFS support,
Station office Darrell Law said it started at about 12.15pm.
"It was started from machinery used by workers in the area," he said.
It burn out an area 500 sq m.
At 1pm, firefighters are well on top of dousing the outbreak, although there is some wind.
Station Master Law said the wind was not overly strong and blowing in the opposite direction.
"This has not caused the fire to spread significantly as a result," he said.
