"Too many people are are still suffering in silence and that is something we all can start doing something about," Vicki Fraser, president of Country Women's Association (CWA) said.
"Ongoing drought continuing to be a major challenge in many parts of the state. Women may be supporting a partner under enormous pressure while also nurturing children suffering the mental health impact of the drought."
"Being able to speak freely in a supportive environment is important for mental wellbeing and listening provides you an opportunity to offer advice."
"Just sharing out loud what might be worrying someone can sometimes be enough to lift the weight people are feeling."
The Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) has 19 coordinators across regional, rural and remote areas who inform, educate and connect individuals communities and workplaces with appropriate mental health services and programs.
CWA of Mulwaree branch is launching its annual awareness week campaign to be held from September 1-8.
It focuses on women's mental health awareness and support services in regional, rural and remote communities.
A stall will also be set up at Goulburn Square on September 5 where information on women's mental health and bowel screening will be available. There will be surprise goodies as well.
