The Progress Association entertained the district’s seniors to a home-cooked Christmas lunch in the Memorial Hall last Friday.

The schoolchildren came down and sang a Christmas carol and two school songs.
Association president, Don McKay, congratulated and thanked the children.
Also thanked were the volunteers who contributed to the success of the gathering.
ANOTHER CHRISTMAS PARTY
The final pony club rally for 2018 was held on Sunday with an attendance of 16 riders, instructed by Georgia Brierly and Naomi Pocock.
Santa arrived to add to the Christmas spirit.
Temperatures soared and children cooled off with a water fight at the end of the session.
The club looks forward to 2019 and will welcome new riders, members and families.
WOMBI ROOM
Volunteers from the Historical Society have been busy completing the picnic table shelter and the exterior of the Wombi Room.
Under the leadership of Randall Vietstra, the exterior of the research room is almost finished.
The interior will have shelves along the walls so that research books and the archives will be readily available.
The society is grateful to the Taralga Wind Farm for funding this project.
CHILDREN’S PARTY
The grounds of the Sports Club were bustling with activity when the annual children’s party was held.
There was a queue waiting to have their face painted, the treasure hunt attracted crowd, and the cricket match between children and fathers saw a win for the kids.
The Mother’s Quiz was won by Mary Mooney and Robyn Corby. There was a prize for the youngest baby present. This went to Rylan Thorpe followed by Indy and Jayden Balfour (twins).
Each child was given a packet of chips, a soft drink, an ice cream and a hot dog.
The laden raffle prize table encouraged patrons to buy a large number of tickets. Hams went to Ron Wadell, Logan Meredith, Jason Moloney, Tess Hadley, Amy Hines and Monique Sharman. Multiple winners included – Simon and Danielle Green, Neville Corby, Logan Meredith, Lynne Barsi, Amy Hines, Jason Moloney, Tess and Bill Hedley, Chase Fitzgerald, Jayden Balfour and Jan Green.
After drawing all the raffles, president Glenn Elliott thanked all who contributed to a very successful function.,

The “Ploughman Café” will be closed from December 21 until January 8.
JOHN and MARY QUINN
Ann Quinn married Patrick Mooney in 1862. They reared a family of 13. John, Margaret, Mary, Catherine, Patrick, , Sarah, Thomas, Maggy, Thomas, Laurence, Francis, Ada, Agnes.
Dennis, John and Mary’s second son, married Mary Aylward. Their children were: Mary married William Aylward; Ellen married John Bergin. John married Mary Shepherd. Margaret, Sylvester and Geneveive never married. John Joseph (3rd son) married Mary Mooney. Their children were: Ellen, Margaret, Thomas, Ellen, John, John F., Dennis. Nicholas (4th son) married Winifred Curran. Their children were: John, Gertrude, Kathleen, Mary, Veronica. Ellen (5th child) married James Cunningham. Their family was: Catherine, Bernard, Annie, John, Eliza, Sylvester, Alice, Francis, Albert, Bede. Thomas never married. Mary married Michael McNamara.
