“The Wollondilly River Walkway is a great project that is well utilised by our community.
“We continue to receive positive feedback about the walkway and Council is delighted to be able to expand upon it with stage two.
“Over the past few months a number of seats and picnic tables have been installed along stage one of the walkway, along with significant vegetation clearing which has made a big difference.
“This will eventually also be continued alongside the second stage.”
An application for $500,000 has also been made for the installation of solar powered lights along the Wollondilly Walking Track under the Community Sport Infrastructure Grant Program.
The council has also recently installed 11 seats and three picnic tables along Stage One of the walkway, which runs from Marsden Weir to Kenmore Street.
They have also been undertaking vegetation clearing at the popular community space.
Funding for Stage Two of the Wollondilly River Walkway was obtained through the Federal Government Building Better Regions Fund ($937,000).
Bridgeworks Australia has been engaged to build the cantilever around the rock face near Kenmore Street.
Work on this bridge is cantilever expected to start in the next few weeks.
