The search has come about as part of a new signage project being undertaken by the combined Rotary clubs of Goulburn.
Signage will be placed at significant points along the Walkway highlighting the history of the sites.
Goulburn Mulwaree Library Local Studies staff have searched through the local collection and found some images but we are now seeking assistance from the community as more are needed.
Mayor Bob Kirk asked the community to check old photo albums and see what you can find.
“Rotary is particularly looking for any old photos of activity at old swimming holes along the Wollondilly River. People may remember some of these places such as the Weir, ‘Harvey’s Hole,’ the Rock, the Bend and ‘Payton’s’,” Cr Kirk said.
Community members with information or images they would like to share are invited to contact Neil Penning on 0407 407 507.
The tender for Stage 2 of the Wollondilly River Walkway was recently awarded by councillors.
The next section will feature a cantilever bridge around the rock face at Joshua Street and will be a 1.5km extension.
