At about 7pm on Friday, July 6, police allege a 26-year-old man from Tallong left a medical facility on Goldsmith Street and made several attempts to access cars.
A 42-year-old man sustained a fractured eye socket, cuts and bruises after allegedly being assaulted by the man during an attempted car-jacking at the intersection of Addison and Faithfull streets.
The driver, from Goulburn, was treated in hospital and has now been released.
Police believe the 26-year-old man then ran towards a service station in Clinton Street where he allegedly threatened a 17-year-old driver with a knife, demanding his car keys.
The youth handed over his car keys and escaped without injury.
The man was unable to start the vehicle and ran to a park where he was arrested by police.
He was taken to Goulburn Base Hospital for assessment before being released back into the custody of police last night.
The man has now been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with intent to rob, one count of robbery, and one count of enter inclosed lands.
Hume Police District Police detective Inspector Chad Gillies said the series of events lasted for about one hour before the man was arrested by police.
“To anyone who may have witnessed this or any other incidents on the night, contact Crime Stoppers or the Hume detective. This investigation is ongoing,” he said.
The man was bail refused and will appear in Goulburn Local Court this week.
