Mrs Foord and her cake are now featured on the front cover of this year’s 2017/18 Goulburn Yellow Pages and White Pages directory.
The competition was a partnership between the Yellow Pages, White Pages and the Country Women’s Association of NSW.
The first-time venture celebrates the state’s largest volunteer women’s organisation, their love of food, and their finest bakers.
Mrs Foord’s cake recipe was entered in the online competition by a friend, and demonstrated creativity in baking by a deserving winner.
The judging panel comprised representatives from the Yellow Pages, White Pages, and the NSW Country Women’s Association.
“I was very surprised and totally thrilled to be chosen as Goulburn’s Undiscovered Baking Legend,” Mrs Foord said. “I have been a member of the CWA for many years … so feel proud to represent my region and share my recipe for all in the area to enjoy.”
Mrs Foord’s rich Christmas cake recipe and ingredients will appear on the inside front cover, as well as the story of the CWA of NSW.
For more than nine decades, the CWA of NSW has given a voice to, and improved life conditions for, women and children in regional and rural Australia through its network of about 1500 branches.
“Food is a very powerful thing, not only for the obvious reasons, but it has the ability to unite people,” said CWA of NSW state president Annette Turner.
“As most will know, we’re quite famous for our scones, so to have the opportunity to showcase some of our members and their amazing baking delights on the covers of the Yellow Pages and White Pages books, along with details of our recent work, is an incredibly exciting thing.”
Sensis spokesperson Erin Williamson said the company was “extremely proud” to partner with the CWA of NSW.
The 2017/18 Goulburn Yellow Pages and White Pages directory featuring Mrs Foord is being delivered throughout Goulburn and district this week.
