Craig’s President’s report said the 2016 Show had been a great celebration of our community and agricultural industry. Kind weather (including a good shower of rain the day before) meant crowd numbers were sound, and the number of exhibits strong.
This year saw Taralga participate in the inaugural Regional Flock Ewe Competition. It was great to see Boorowa, Crookwell, Gunning and Taralga Show Societies combine to promote the merino industry through this prestigious trophy.
Another first for Taralga this year was teaming up with Crookwell Show Society to host a combined pasture competition. While judging took place in October (when the grass was green) the Supreme Exhibit was announced during the Show. This was a great chance for locals to visit a number of farms in the area and share ideas on pastures, fertilisers and stocking capacity. Congratulations to our winner, Daniel and Linda Walsh.
The Show Pavilion was, as always, well supported. Special congratulations must go to Bob and Pat Blay for the outstanding contribution of 63 different entries in the Pavilion. The Quick Shears and Sheep Counting competitions were also drawcards.
Thanks to the committee and stewards for many hours of contribution. Our community would not be the place it is without so many people always ready to put their hand up.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 14 at the Club.
