The year 11 Mulwaree High School student, originally from Poland, came to Australia at the age of 11, and has achieved a lot over the past six years since coming to Goulburn. He is a member of the Goulburn Mulwaree Youth Council and the local Interact club.
He is also very passionate about local affairs, and was selected to give the youth address at the Police’s 150th birthday celebrations last year.
He was also ‘member for Goulburn’ at the recent YMCA NSW Youth Parliament, and took on the role of Minister for Western NSW.
His belief in a student voice and democracy is very strong, and he even organised a student protest against cuts to NSW Public Education in Belmore Park last year.
“It makes me very proud and honoured to have received this award today,” he said.
“There are so many great organisations and citizens here in Goulburn-, we have three Rotary clubs, we have a Lion’s Club, we have so many youth organisations that contribute so much to our community.
“I was really surprised to have received this award, actually, and I think it must be very hard sometimes for some kids to feel they have a voice in their community.
“But in saying that, the ceremony and festivities here today show just how ‘tight’ a community Goulburn really is, and that’s one of the really great things I like about Australia, because it doesn’t matter whether you are black, white, indigenous or Asian, you’re still an Australian.”
